Julia brings to the practice over 21 years in the dental profession. Beginning her career with Bachelor Degrees in both Science (Anatomy and Physiology) and Arts (Police Studies) from Monash University, Julia initially worked as a research respiratory physiologist. With a thirst for further knowledge, Julia switched career paths to one that involved a greater involvement with patients on a daily basis.
After successfully qualifying as a dental assistant (through RMIT), then studying a Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Melbourne, Julia then went on to complete her Bachelor of Dental Science (also at the University of Melbourne), graduating with Honours in 2009 and winning the prizes for paediatric dentistry and special needs dentistry. Oral Health Therapist
Michelle graduated from La Trobe University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Oral Health Science, with Extended Scope of Practice. She joined the Flinders Dental team in January 2018. As an Oral Health Therapist, Michelle treats both children and adults focusing on the prevention of dental diseases. Michelle spent her initial years practicing in Ferntree Gully, treating many Burmese refugees. This gave her great experience in treating children with many dental issues and communication difficulties, whilst maintaining a happy environment. With her extended scope, she can provide general dental care including check ups and fillings to adults of all ages. Encompassed in her scope is Dental Hygiene, in which Michelle provides thorough cleans and deeper root planning with a gentle hand.
Michelle understands that visiting the dentist can sometimes be uncomfortable, and always tries to make it an enjoyable, comfortable experience. Michelle is also a local sailor of Westernport Bay, and you can see her out most weekends during summer sailing on her catamaran or wing-foiling.
